For the vast majority of users, yes. Low latency audio doesn’t allow the time needed to do the kind of echo cancellation Skype, Zoom, and other conventional chat/conferencing applications use to allow people to speak without headphones. If you don’t use headphones, you will almost assuredly create an irritating echo for the other person.

An exception to this is if you use only directional microphones and ensure that each loudspeaker is located where the microphones pick up sound poorly. Another exception is when an electronic instrument is used as a signal source (not a mic).
