Headphones work but are not recognized in Control Center

I have plugged in Bose QC35 headphones into my MacBook Pro (2020). The headphones have an integral mic and are operating normally. I do not however see any option in Control Center for selecting a mic. And in Farplay they also don’t show up. I only see MacBook Pro and System Default. Are these headphones incompatible?

Dear Bill,

Based on this reddit comment, it seems your Bose QC35’s built-in mic might not work in wired mode (only when using Bluetooth, which we recommend against when using FarPlay). Please try a different mic. The mic that comes with wired Apple EarPods works great.
