high pitch cancellation in microphone

  • Hi David,
Thank you for the incredible effort in providing me with information and choices. I am reading through the links. The beautiful Schumann rehearsal looks so simple and easy with only EarPods into their computers.

Back to my studio. After I spend more time going over the material, I will take your suggestions to Long and McQuade.

    Thanks again,
    Dale

    Dear Dale,

You’re very welcome. Glad to help!

    Thank you,

    Hi David,

I decided to order Grado SR60X open headset. I am looking at McQuade tomorrow for an Omnidirectional Condenser Mic Apex 220 SKU 205826. I am also looking for Yorkville standard series instrument cable SKU 17427 –Amazon does not have it, so I will check with Long and McQuade. Please evaluate my choices. I want to purchase a better microphone (one recommended by Ian Howell.)..but I think I will wait for that. Let me know if you think I am set up to use FarPlay on HP . Thanks again for your generous time and help.

One more question: I am beginning with one student and parent using FarPlay as the platform. They have a Mac. Is there any way they can both use a set of wired Apple Ear Pods for the lessons.

    Dale

I will be taking one student on FarPlay in January. A parent and child with a Mac. Is there a way for both of them to use a wired Apple EarPod for the lesson.

    Dear Dale,

You’ll love the Grado SR60X! Very pleasant to sing with.

Getting an entry-level Apex 220 for now and then upgrading to a nicer mic later is very reasonable.

The brand of the instrument cable doesn’t have to be Yorkville. Getting this other one from Amazon would be fine. I updated the shopping list accordingly:

With this shopping list, you can expect a wonderful singing and teaching experience with FarPlay on your PC. Please feel free to let me know when the Focusrite Scarlett has arrived (I can give you more instructions for setting up the Scarlett).

Ask the student and parent to plug their two sets of Apple EarPods into this TRRS splitter and then plug the splitter into their Mac. Then they can participate in the lesson together.

    Thank you,
    David Liao

    Hi David,

I did order the Grado SR60 headset you recommended as well as the Yorkvile Standard Series cable for my Korg. Long and McQuade have the Apex 220 omnidirectional microphone, but I am wondering if you can recommend a slightly better microphone. Thanks you again so much for all your help.

    Dale

    Hi Dale,

    That’s great news.

To upgrade your mic, you can use the CA$271 Beyerdynamic MM-1 omnidirectional condenser SKU 794563. I’m suggesting mics that are omnidirectional condensers (Apex 220 and Beyerdynamic MM-1) so that your students really hear the ringing reverberations of your room when you demonstrate classical singing.

    Thank you,
    David Liao
