Dear Joel,
Thank you for your message.
First, could you and your friend go to our QuickStart? In “Step Zero: Choose Your Setup”, choose your computer and audio setup. Then, follow the steps in “Step One: Get Ready”. In particular, section “3. Configure and test your audio” can be done alone, before connecting to each other. The QuickStart takes care of common things like remembering to connect with Ethernet, to turn Wi-Fi off, to use ASIO drivers (if someone is using an audio interface with ASIO drivers on Windows), and to turn Windows signal enhancements off (if someone is using built-in audio on Windows).
If you’ve both already used the QuickStart, go to our Troubleshooting Guide. Use the “Change computer” and “Change audio” buttons, if needed, to choose your setup. Then, check out the “Latency is too high” section, which includes tips like turning VPN off.
Interested to hear how it goes.
Thank you,
David Liao
