Apologies if this is a question that is answered somewhere else, but I’m looking at potentially getting FarPlay to continue playing music with my friends now that my wife and I have moved. However, I’m the drummer and she plays bass. Will we need a multi-location set up in our house to allow for that? Or can we handle that with a single mic/laptop and just manage our levels based on feedback from the other remote folks?

My assumption is we’re going to use an audio interface, one condenser mic located probably about 8 feet in front of the kit and about 5 feet high, and the bass amp will be closer to the mic than the drums. Trying to figure out what sort of set up is recommended for this as we figure out what we’ll need to get to make this work.

Dear Nate,

Thank you for your question. Your suggestion of having you and your wife play in the same room to a shared condenser mic will work.

Alternatively, you could plug a mic for your drums into the audio interface and also plug a cable from your wife’s bass amp’s line out into the audio interface. Then, you could use knobs on the audio interface (or gain sliders in FarPlay’s input mixer) to adjust the balance between your drums and the bass.
