Good afternoon,
It has been a frustrating day trying to connect with Farplay. New desktop Mac has only 2 ports(thunderbolt) therefore, bought 2 different adapters to connect ethernet cord but, neither worked. Spoke to internet provider, Geek Squad at Best Buy and Apple but, no one seems to have an answer….all working …internet, adapter, ethernet cord all ok.
Advised that we cannot use Farplay on the new IMac. Surely we don’t need to go back to an old slow computer that the ethernet cord can directly attach to.
Suggestions????

Dear Kevin,

Thanks for your question. On your new iMac, go to System Settings > Privacy & Security. Choose Local Network. Click the toggle switch to give FarPlay permission (original post here).

If FarPlay still can’t connect, make sure that, on your new iMac, VPN is off and the firewall is off too (System Settings > Network > Firewall).

Yes, you don’t need to go back to the old computer. FarPlay will work on your new iMac.
