Dear Urban,
With good internet connections, I’d expect roughly 80 ms of latency between Texas and Slovenia.
- Make sure each musician uses Ethernet to connect their computer to the router that receives the internet signal where it first enters the home. Avoid wireless repeater/extender routers and Ethernet-over-power adapters.
- Be sure to turn Wi-Fi off and VPN off, if used.
- Use a landline (fiber, cable, or vDSL) internet connection at each end, rather than cellular internet.
- Drag the latency slider as far to the left as you can while still hearing an acceptable amount of crackling (see 1-minute video explainer).
- If someone uses Windows, have them try to reduce latency by using an audio device with manufacturer-supplied ASIO drivers (like the iRig Stream Mic USB). Ask them to follow the steps in section 3 of our QuickStart guide (they should use the version customized for Windows PCs with external audio interfaces here).
Our troubleshooting guide provides additional suggestions for reducing latency.
Thank you,
David Liao

Thank you for the reply!
The other person had ASIO driver and I believe I had it too on the microphone but not on the headphones. I have a Rubix 24 audio interface but no headphones to connect to it only microphone. And I could select asio for the mic but not the headphones which are wired directly to the laptop. I need to play around with the setting I’ll try the quick guide.
Thanks,
Urban
Dear Urban,
You’re welcome.
To get the best latency, plug your headphones into your Rubix 24 audio interface (use a headphone-plug adapter if your headphones’ plug is too small for the Rubix’s headphone jack) and select your Roland Rubix ASIO drivers for both the microphone and the headphones in FarPlay.
Set your ASIO buffer size to 16, 32, or 64 samples, whichever gives the lowest local latency and clear sound, as described in the QuickStart guide. Ask the musician in Texas to do the same.
Thank you,
David Liao
