Dear Trevor,
Thanks for your question. To play together in sync (especially for uptempo music), make sure each band member uses an Ethernet cable https://a.co/d/j1DvwOk to connect their computer to the router that receives the internet signal where it enters the home. If a computer doesn’t have an Ethernet port, use an Ethernet adapter (for USB-C https://a.co/d/ikp4GXW or USB-A https://a.co/d/ajItQ5y). Ethernet cables can be up to 300 ft long without signal degradation and can be rolled out just for FarPlay sessions.
You can experiment with just using Wi-Fi, but it’s common to find that Wi-Fi doesn’t give low enough latency for playing together (even when other uses that don’t need low latency, like talking over Zoom and watching videos on YouTube, are fine on Wi-Fi).
Thank you,
David Liao
