Computer loses internet connection when Wi-Fi is off
-
Hi everyone,
I thought a solution for one of our users might help others. They indicated that their computer couldn’t connect to the internet with Wi-Fi off despite using an Ethernet cable to connect to the box that receives the internet signal where it enters the home. That box was connected by Ethernet to a router, and the solution was for the user to connect their computer’s Ethernet cable to that router.
Some internet providers bring your internet signal into an ONT (for fiber) or a modem (for cable) and then use Ethernet to connect the ONT/modem to the actual router you plug your computer’s Ethernet cable into. Sometimes ONTs/modems look like routers.
Thank you,
David Liao
