internet connection drops in FarPlay

While teaching online lessons with FarPlay, the internet connection often fails several times in a lesson. My students and I reconnect, sometimes by both of us closing and re-opening FarPlay, or even re-booting our machines, but end up reverting to Zoom, which stays connected.
We use ethernet connections directly into our routers. Mine is connected to a new 2-in-1 laptop that folds over so I can place it on the music desk on the piano, using an Ethernet to USB adapter. This didn’t happen when connecting to my previous machine (a desktop computer on a rolling stand.) I’d consider buying a new adapter, but don’t understand why Zoom stays connected and FarPlay doesn’t. Any ideas?

Thanks for your question. When FarPlay has connectivity problems, but other apps on the same computer have normal connectivity, please try the following.
- Go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet and put the Wi-Fi toggle switch in the off position.
- With Wi-Fi off, check that your PC can browse websites normally. If not, reboot your PC again. If your PC still can’t browse the web, reboot your router.
- If your PC still isn’t connected to the internet, go to Start > Settings > Network & Internet and check whether it says “Connected” under “Ethernet”. If not, try this Ethernet-to-USB-C adapter we recommend (if you prefer to use a USB-A port, try this Ethernet-to-USB-A adapter).
(Sometimes, a computer tries to use Wi-Fi even when the Ethernet cable and adapter are plugged in; turning Wi-Fi off prevents this).
