Garbled Sounds

  • Dear George,

Happy you’ve been having a blast :). Thank you for the very helpful screenshot and audio sample.

To clean up distortion from Mish, please drag the latency slider in Mish‘s subpanel to the right until the latency slider is in the left half of the green region.

The green region is the recommended region for finding a balance between lower latency (more to the left) and cleaner sound (more to the right). Placing the latency slider to the left outside of the green region can result in a lot of distortion/crackling.

If Mish’s audio continues to distort and Mish uses a Windows PC, please have them configure FarPlay and their audio interface’s manufacturer-supplied ASIO drivers (available for all Scarletts and some Behringers) using the version of our QuickStart guide customized for Windows PCs with external audio interfaces.

For additional tips for distorted audio, check out our Troubleshooting Guide.

Note: when the Auto button is black (instead of blue), Auto is off (which is good 👍 for playing highly rhythmic music together, as mentioned in our latency-slider video tutorial).

I noticed the 49-ms latency from Johnny, which seems high for being within 20 miles. Please have Johnny check that the Ethernet cable from his computer goes to the router that receives the internet signal where that signal first enters his home and that he has turned VPN off, if used. If Johnny uses a Windows PC and his audio interface has manufacturer-supplied ASIO drivers, please have him also check that he has configured FarPlay using the version of our QuickStart guide customized for Windows PCs with external audio interfaces.

If Johnny or Mish uses a Windows PC with an audio interface that doesn’t have manufacturer-supplied ASIO drivers, please have them turn Windows Signal Enhancements off (can cause garbling and high latency).

    Thank you,
    David Liao
