Fails to connect

  • Dear Enrique,

Thank you for your message. Sorry the rehearsal didn’t work out.

    • Please ask the musicians in India to check that they’re using fiber or cable internet connections (internet provider’s cable goes from the router/modem in the home to street outside the house), not 5G/4G cellular/hotspot internet connections.
    • Please ask the musicians in India to turn their computers’ Wi-Fi off, to make sure they’re only connected through their Ethernet cables.
    • Please make sure each musician turns VPN off, if used.
    • If those suggestions don’t help, we recommend that each musician (them and you) ask their internet provider whether they can get a Public IP or turn IPv6 on for their internet connection. IPv6, if offered, is often free, and if each end has IPv6, that typically fixes connection problems.

For more suggestions, please point the musicians to our Troubleshooting Guide, have them click the Change computer and Change audio buttons as needed, and then browse the Can’t connect section. For lowest latency, FarPlay sends audio/video directly between each pair of participants (this is called peer-to-peer connectivity). The suggestions above fix problems that can block FarPlay from using the peer-to-peer connectivity FarPlay requires.

If you can share a screenshot of the “FarPlay couldn’t establish a connection” pop-up message, I’ll use the “Local / remote network status” information at the bottom to further customize suggestions for you and the musicians in India.

    Thank you,
    David Liao
