Hello! I’m on a 2020 iMac, ethernet, and my own setup is without issue: I’m running an AudioTechnica AT2020 mic with 48v, a Yamaha keyboard, and BeyerDynamic DT900 ProX headphones in through my PreSonus AudioBox 22VSL.

My student is using a PC laptop, a new Yamaha (piano) keyboard, and a wired gaming headset for both his mic and headphones.

We can both hear each other speak, and he can hear both my keyboard and mic on his headphones. However, surprisingly, I can only occasionally hear his (piano) keyboard.

My student can hear his own keyboard via its onboard speakers; it isn’t connected to his gaming headset. Since he is indeed using corded headphones, I suspect that an echo cancellation algorithm is active: when I hear any keyboard at all, I hear poorly only the beginning of a note.

I’ve confirmed that the audio I hear of his voice is from his headset mic, since I can hear rustling when I ask him to scratch it.

Our lessons are well underway, and it will soon be time that I must hear him play, rather than only seeing the keys on his keyboard. Can you help me succeed for this student?
