I hear a lot of noise (lots of crackling and/or audio is very robotic).

Try dragging the latency slider to the right.
Try quitting all other applications, particularly other audio applications like a DAW.
Check whether the problem is on your end:
- If you’re using an audio interface, turn direct monitoring off.
- Create a FarPlay session that you alone join.
- In FarPlay’s main window, find the Monitor slider in the section of FarPlay’s main window labeled You (Your name).
- Drag this slider toward the right while speaking until you hear your own voice in your headphones.
- If your voice sounds clear in your headphones, the problem is not in your audio configuration. If your voice sounds crackly or robotic in your headphones, however, continue below.
Increase your audio buffer size:
- Go into FarPlay Preferences.
- You will be brought to the General Options tab.
- If you’re on Mac, use the Audio Buffer Size pull-down menu to try larger and larger buffer sizes until the sound of your voice in your headphones is no longer robotic. This step also applies if you’re using a Windows audio device (not using ASIO drivers).
- If, instead, you’re using ASIO drivers for an audio device on Windows, the Audio Buffer Size pull-down menu in FarPlay Preferences > General Options should be grayed out. In this case, click on the ASIO Buffer Settings button to bring up a window that your audio device’s manufacturer provides. Try larger and larger buffer sizes until the sound of your voice in your headphones is no longer crackly/robotic.
Finally, this issue may be fixed by explicitly setting your sound card’s sample rate to 48kHz.
