Reply To: high pitch cancellation in microphone
Dear Dale,
You’ll love the Grado SR60X! Very pleasant to sing with.
Getting an entry-level Apex 220 for now and then upgrading to a nicer mic later is very reasonable.
The brand of the instrument cable doesn’t have to be Yorkville. Getting this other one from Amazon would be fine. I updated the shopping list accordingly:
- CA$169 Scarlett Solo 4th Gen (not bundle) SKU 792695
- CA$80 Apex 220 Omnidirectional Condenser Mic SKU 205826
- CA$32 XLR Mic Cable (15-ft) SKU 15843
- Grado SR60X open-back headphones
- CA$25 Samson MD2 Desktop Mic Stand SKU 754680
- CA$4 HOSA 3.5 mm TRS to 1/4″ TRS Stereo Adapter SKU 12384
- Various choices of instrument cable are OK: You can order this one from Amazon or buy the CA$22 Yorkville Standard Series Instrument cable – 15 ft SKU 17427 from Long and McQuade.
With this shopping list, you can expect a wonderful singing and teaching experience with FarPlay on your PC. Please feel free to let me know when the Focusrite Scarlett has arrived (I can give you more instructions for setting up the Scarlett).
Ask the student and parent to plug their two sets of Apple EarPods into this TRRS splitter and then plug the splitter into their Mac. Then they can participate in the lesson together.
Thank you,
David Liao
