Reply To: Latencia alta
Dear Juanma,
Thank you for your question. Yes, the new setup you and your instructor plan to use will let you play together. The important change is that you’re switching (on your PC) from the Maono PD400X USB mic to the Audient iD14, an audio interface with manufacturer-supplied ASIO drivers (Windows PCs need audio devices with ASIO drivers to get the lowest possible latency, unlike Macs, which have very low latency built in). Please do the following on your PC:
- Install the Audient iD14’s official ASIO drivers.
- Before your next lesson, set your audio up using “Step One: Get Ready” in the version of our QuickStart guide customized for Windows PCs with external audio interfaces.
- When the QuickStart guide asks you to click the “ASIO Buffer Settings” button, click the “iD” icon in your PC’s system tray (near date and time at bottom-right corner of screen). In the menu that appears, use the “Set ASIO Buffer Size” item to choose 16 samples (if that causes crackling, try 32 samples or 64 samples). Also use the Set Sample Rate item to check that the sample rate is 48kHz. See screen recording from Audient below.
Thank you,
David Liao
