Reply To: Latencia alta

Dear Juanma,

Musicians in Spain and New York, for example, can perform jazz improvisation in which a vocalist floats over a pianist at a relaxed, laid-back tempo, like in this nice example performed from Chicago, U.S.A. and Paris, France (6700 km apart). On the other hand, fast, rhythmically precise music would be too hard for musicians in the U.S. and Europe to play together.

With good connections, you can get around 20 ms of latency over distances of around 1500 km. This is low enough to comfortably play a wide variety of styles together. How far you can play together depends on instrumentation and style. For examples and details, see our blog post here.

Thank you,
David Liao
