Failed to connect error on Win 10
-
Hi there!
I just tried creating a session with a friend and got the Failed to connect error. I’m on an internet connection that’s shared from a phone. Unfortunately I don’t have access to a wired connection.
I tried disabling the firewall, and switching the network to private to enable device discovery over network.
Didn’t work for now.
I got one prompt from Windows Defender to allow an incoming connection after I enabled the specific UDP port range setting, so something was there. I did allow the connection, but it failed to connect just the same. The Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security shows two entries for FarPlay now, with all inbound TCP and UDP allowed.
So, what to do and where to start?
I’d like to fix this before trying out with a friend again, if possible. Is there a way you could set up a system to test inbound connections with? I could try with the friend as well, of course, but it’s more comfortable to root things out in your own time.
I have the most recent Farplay. So does she. I’m on Windows 10, with Bitdefender AV and Windows Defender firewall. The free version of Bitdefender should have no clear firewall features to it, I’ve put FarPlay in the exemptions for its Online Threat Prevention thing, which is a webpage threat evaluation system. I know, a can of worms if it’s that, but for now it seems unlikely.
Best regards
Antti
