Under headphones, there is nothing in the pull down menu for external headphones showing. And there is nothing showing my headphones although they are plugged in.

Additionally, I am getting an echo in my phones of my own voice.

Dear Stewart,

Thank you for your post. On older Macs, use FarPlay’s Headphones pull-down menu to choose “Built-in Output” (this is the old name for “External Headphones“). Since you’re hearing an echo of your voice in your headphones, I think you’ve already picked the correct pull-down option.

To make the echo quieter, drag the Monitor slider under You (…) to the left (all the way to the left if you want to mute your voice in your headphones completely).
