Using UA Apollo interface Windows with Farplay

Hello,
I want to do video lessons with my new piano teacher through Farplay. He uses a Universal Audio Apollo audi interface on a Windows computer. This high class thing seems to be a bit complicated, did not work without fancy adjustments, if at all, with zoom. I would rather use Farplay, works like a charm with my equipment, but my Mac is way easier with audio, not needing al those different drivers.
What adjustments must be made with AU Console to get things working?

Love this question! Using Universal Audio Apollos with FarPlay has been really easy ever since we introduced our Input Mixer back in version 1.2.4. With FarPlay’s Input Mixer, UA users don’t need to create a stereo input mix in UAD Console. Please feel free to share the instructions below with your new piano teacher.
- Follow the steps in “Step One: Get Ready” of the version of our QuickStart guide for Windows PCs with external audio interfaces. Where the screenshots show an example selection of ASIO devices > Focusrite USB ASIO, choose, instead, ASIO devices > Universal Audio USB. If you already used UAD Console to create a stereo mic/input mix for Zoom that’d you’d like to use in FarPlay, then, in the QuickStart step that says to choose Mono Mix and channels 1-2 for the microphone settings (near screenshot below), choose, instead, Stereo and the channels for the input mix you created in UAD Console (which might not be channels 1-2). Setup’s done!
If you haven’t created a mic/input mix in UAD Console you’d like to use in FarPlay, you can easily create a mix in FarPlay itself — just follow the steps below.

Under Devices, click the Microphone pull-down menu and select Input Mixer (2nd item).
If the microphone is already set to the Input Mixer, you can also click the Input Mixer button in the Channels section under You (…).

In the Input Mixer window, press the circled plus to create as many input tracks as you’d like — each track in the Input Mixer can accept 1 (mono) or 2 (stereo) input channels from your UA Apollo. For each track, click the device menu (under “Input”) and select ASIO devices > Universal Audio USB. Use the pull-down menu under the device menu to choose the input channels you want to use. Here’s what the input-device and input-channel selections look like in a track when I use my Focusrite Scarlett interface.

To monitor the mix you’re sending through FarPlay, drag the Monitor slider in the You (…) subpanel to 0 dB (higher if you prefer the mix you’re sending to be louder in your headphones).
- Adjust the mix you’re sending using the mixer’s gain sliders and pan pots (knobs), as described in our mixer instructions.
