Reply To: How to output monitor before adding to mix on FarPlay?

Hi Morgan,

Glad to hear FarPlay has been amazing for your group! To monitor Logic Pro’s output before bringing that output into FarPlay, do the following.

Click Logic Pro > Settings > Audio. For the Output Device, choose the desired audio interface/External Headphones. As a result, the Input Device might get automatically changed. If so, change the Input Device back to the audio interface/microphone you were using. Then, press Apply.

When you’re happy with Logic Pro’s mix in your headphones, go back to Logic Pro > Settings > Audio. Change the Output Device back to BlackHole. This will also automatically change the Input Device to BlackHole, which you don’t want. So, change the Input Device back to the audio interface/microphone you were using. Then, press Apply. Your Logic Pro mix is again available to be brought into FarPlay.

If I misunderstood your question, please let me know.

Also, may I ask what aggregated inputs you’re bringing into Logic Pro? You might simplify your sessions by bringing those inputs directly into FarPlay’s input mixer, which lets you bring audio in from as many audio devices as you like, avoiding the need for an Aggregate Device and Logic Pro.

Thank you,
David Liao
