I am trying to decide which subscription I need. If the option says I can “authorize up to 3 devices,” does that mean 3 devices in my own home (downstairs desktop computer, upstairs desktop computer and garage laptop); or does it mean I can authorize myself plus two remote collaborators (me playing bass in Chicago, Bill playing accordion in Milwaukee, Ed playing drums in Indianapolis)?

Thanks for the screenshot. When a subscriber “authorizes up to 3 devices”, like the “downstairs desktop computer, upstairs desktop computer and garage laptop” you suggested or, as another example, a music teacher’s home computer and two computers at music studios where they teach, each authorized computer can use the subscription’s benefits.
An example of a subscription benefit is the ability to create sessions that multiple guests (not just one) can join. Guests don’t need FarPlay subscriptions; they can join for free. Note: One subscription can host one active session at a time.
