I’m unable to record even though I’ve turned on Broadcast Output.

Broadcast Output is different from FarPlay’s built-in recording feature.

Broadcast Output (https://farplay.io/broadcast-output/) is used to send audio from FarPlay to another audio application (using a virtual sound card). This is useful when you want to record FarPlay audio using a separate DAW.

If you’d like to make a recording in FarPlay itself, go to the Tools section of FarPlay’s main window, and click Start Recording. A context menu will appear offering types of recording you can make.
